Description:
In 2009, bikers in China once again have the chance to experience a mountain bike race at one of China’s most beautiful and mythical mountains – Mt. Huangshan. Huangshan MTB Festival will be held for its 4th time and is one of the "must go for" races in China. With the track stretching through fields, green hilly slopes, bamboo forests and old villages, this is more than just a race, it is also a journey of enjoyment.
This year's race will be held on Saturday March 21st with one short and one long routes – 20km and 50km. Apart from taking the race, you can visit the World Heritage ancient villages Hongcun and Xidi.
About Huangshan
Mt. Huangshan is located at south of Anhui Province. It is known for its scenery, sunset, peculiarly shaped granite peaks, pine trees, and views of the clouds surrounding its peaks. Mt Huangshan was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990 for its scenery and its role as a habitat for rare and threatened species.
About Hongcun and Xidi Villages
Hongcun is the place where Huangshan MTB Festival has its base that the race will start from. Hongcun and the nearby Xidi Village are UNESCO World Heritage Sites because of its architechtural value with many old and well-preserved buildings. There are 29 Ming Dynasty and 3,611 Qing Dynasty residential buildings and family temples in the counties, decorated with the typical local style of brick, wood and stone carvings. Have you watched "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon"? The movie was filmed here!
